Brother Detained for Suspected Murder in Family Dispute at Ein Ayala Moshav

The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Ohad Arad, 36, for five days following his arrest in Netanya on suspicion of murdering his brother Asa Arad, 41, at their family property in the Ein Ayala moshav. The investigation is being conducted by the Central Unit of the Menashe District. Ohad denies the allegations, claiming he was present but tried to assist Asa, a version supported by their mother. Despite his cooperation, the court found sufficient grounds to maintain suspicion against him.

Asa Arad, a former Golani combat medic and law student who also worked as a security guard and art courier, was found dead, with his body sent to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for autopsy to determine the cause and timing of death. The family and community are shocked yet not surprised, citing a longstanding inheritance dispute over the valuable family estate following their father's death two years ago.

The conflict involved repeated harassment by Ohad towards Asa and their mother, including property damage and physical assaults. Ohad, a former combat diver in the Israeli Navy's Shayetet 13 unit, had previously faced community court proceedings for these incidents, which were resolved with a plea deal resulting in community service and probation. His lawyer described the case as tragic and emphasized Ohad's full cooperation and desire for a swift resolution to grieve with his family.

The case remains under active investigation, with authorities examining all evidence and testimonies to clarify the circumstances of the fatal incident.
