Ohad Arad Detained on Suspicion of Killing Brother Asa in Carmel Coast Community

Ohad Arad is the prime suspect in the murder of his brother Asa Arad, found dead with severe injuries in their home in Ein Ayala, a community in the Carmel Coast regional council. The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended Ohad Arad's detention by an additional five days as investigators from the Menashe District continue probing the circumstances of the incident. Asa's mother discovered him lifeless in his residence, prompting the ongoing investigation.

Ohad Arad, represented by public defender Attorney Mohammad Masarwa, denies the allegations and is cooperating fully with the police, providing his version of events. Masarwa described the case as a tragic event and expressed hope that the police will soon verify his client's account. Judge Farha Miller Jubran, in her ruling to extend the detention, noted that although the investigation is at an early stage, the suspect's version does not weaken the reasonable suspicion derived from the case file. She emphasized that releasing the suspect at this point could jeopardize the investigation and that alternative measures to detention are insufficient to meet the investigation's needs.
