Truck Driver Dies in Fatal Crash on Highway 4 as Bystanders Loot Cargo

A truck driver in his 50s died in a deadly accident on Highway 4 near the Holot interchange close to Rishon Lezion on Thursday night. The collision involved the truck and a private vehicle, resulting in the driver becoming trapped inside his truck. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene and declared the driver dead on site.

Following the crash, disturbing footage and eyewitness accounts emerged showing bystanders and passing drivers stopping at the roadside to load cartons of spilled cargo from the truck onto their vehicles. The videos circulated widely on WhatsApp news channels, prompting public outrage over the apparent looting amid a tragic fatality.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as shocking and morally degrading, with one stating, "A man lost his life and people are shamelessly stealing his goods. How far has morality fallen in Israeli society?" Another witness called the event embarrassing and disgraceful, noting that drivers stopped, unloaded cartons, and stole everything they could from the wreckage as if nothing had happened.

Authorities are currently trying to identify the owners of the footage for copyright purposes. The incident has sparked a debate about societal values and respect for victims of fatal accidents in Israel.
