Georgi Yarmakov Reflects on Fan Culture and Experience in Israeli Football

Georgi Yarmakov, former Maccabi Haifa player, recently discussed his transfer to Metalist Kharkiv after lengthy negotiations lasting over a month. In an interview with his new club's official YouTube channel, Yarmakov expressed happiness about joining Metalist and returning home to Kyiv, Ukraine, which he described as familiar and comforting. He shared nostalgic feelings about the Ukrainian nature and people, which he missed during his time in Israel.

Yarmakov highlighted the distinct fan culture in Israel, noting the passionate atmosphere created by supporters at both home and away games. He described the elaborate fan displays and chants dedicated to individual players as unique and impressive, contrasting them with the Ukrainian league. He also mentioned adapting to a multilingual defense line and a different football style, as well as adjusting to a mid-season coaching change while at Maccabi Haifa.

He recalled participating in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers with Maccabi Haifa, marking his first European competition experience, including a notable match against Raków in Poland.
