Israeli Military Court Extends Detention of Four Suspects in South Hebron Weapon Snatching Incident

The military court in Judea extended by seven days the detention of four suspects involved in the assault of a shepherd and the theft of his weapon near Susya in the southern Hebron Hills. Their detention was prolonged until August 4 to allow further investigation. The suspects were brought before the court at the request of the investigation team from the Anti-Terrorism Department of the Central Unit in the Judea and Samaria district. The court approved the request to grant investigators additional time to complete their inquiries.

As part of the investigation, the shepherd provided testimony regarding the incident, which involved the assault and weapon theft. The testimony is a key element in advancing the case against the suspects and preparing for their prosecution. The incident occurred on the night of the previous Saturday in the Susya area, initially reported as gunfire. However, the IDF clarified that it was not a shooting attack but a violent clash between Israeli civilians and Palestinians, including stone-throwing from both sides.

During the event, an IDF soldier on leave was attacked and had his weapon stolen. Shots were fired into the air during the suspects' escape, but the weapon was quickly recovered and returned to security forces. Another Israeli civilian was injured by stone-throwing and received medical treatment. Following the incident, IDF forces launched a manhunt, set up roadblocks, and worked to locate those involved. The four suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues, and they are still considered suspects pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
