Israel Imposes Nationwide Ban on Open Fires Until End of August Due to Heatwave
The Commissioner of Israel Fire and Rescue Services, Major General Eyal Caspi, has issued a nationwide ban on lighting fires in open areas across Israel until August 31, 2026. This decision, effective from July 23, 2026, responds to an anticipated severe heatwave expected to increase the risk of large-scale wildfires. The ban covers all open spaces, including nature reserves and national parks.
While the prohibition extends to all open flames, technical work that involves fire or sparks may proceed only under strict conditions outlined in the order.
