Israeli Authorities Warn of Extreme Heatwave and Fire Risks, Possible Trail Closures

The Israel Nature and Parks Authority announced a total ban on lighting fires in nature reserves and national parks, except in designated areas, due to heightened fire risks under the Fire and Rescue Services order. They also cautioned that some hiking trails across the country may be closed as a precaution.

The heatwave is expected to bring dangerously high temperatures, increasing the risk of dehydration, heatstroke, and wildfires. Additionally, the Kinneret Region Municipal Association warned beachgoers of strong west winds expected from Thursday afternoon, which could cause swimmers to drift into deeper waters and pose risks from falling branches and flying debris. Visitors to beaches are advised to stay hydrated, seek shade, and protect gas canisters from direct sunlight during the heatwave.
