Over 100 Givati Brigade Soldiers Abandon Weapons and Leave Sde Teyman Base in Protest

On Thursday, more than 100 fighters and commanders from the Givati Brigade's Tzabar Battalion abandoned their weapons and left the Sde Teyman base, taking only their personal belongings. The decision followed a symbolic act by the battalion commander, who broke the "pugim", metal plates bearing the morale slogans of the battalion's companies and platoons, in front of the soldiers. This act triggered the mass departure, with the soldiers leaving their military equipment and weapons behind at the base. The move was not limited to a small group but involved a significant portion of the battalion's personnel. After breaking the morale plates and reportedly smashing doors, the soldiers decided to leave the base and return home, carrying only their personal bags. This incident marks a rare and significant protest within the Israeli military ranks, centered around the symbolic destruction of the battalion's morale symbols and the subsequent mass absence from duty.
