Rabid Dog Found in Neve Tzuf Prompts Preventive Treatment for Four People

The Israeli Ministry of Health reported that a medium-sized brown dog infected with rabies was found in the settlement of Neve Tzuf. Four individuals who had contact with the dog have already received preventive treatment against rabies. The ministry urges anyone who encountered the dog or whose pets came into contact with it or other stray animals in the area between June 24 and July 9, 2026, to urgently seek evaluation and possible preventive care at the Ramla District Health Office or their nearest health office. Parents are advised to check if their children had any contact with suspicious animals and to seek immediate medical advice if so. Pet owners are requested to verify their animals' vaccination status with a licensed veterinarian and to inform visitors and residents in nearby communities. The Ministry of Health also reminds the public that anyone bitten or scratched by an animal should immediately wash the wound with soap and water, disinfect it, and consult a health office to determine if preventive treatment against rabies is necessary.
