Israeli Teens Trapped in Bulgarian Hotel After Violent Attack by British Group
A group of Israeli youths on a pre-army trip in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, have been trapped in their hotel rooms for hours following a violent assault by a group of British nationals. The incident occurred on the night of July 29, 2026, as the teenagers were returning from a local party. According to the victims, the attackers identified them as Israelis, pursued them, and assaulted several members in dark alleys using pepper spray and other weapons. One victim was reportedly choked during the attack.
The teenagers managed to escape and barricade themselves inside their hotel rooms but remain fearful for their safety and have not left since. One mother reported that her son has been locked in his room since the night of the attack, unable even to go out for food or water. She described the presence of antisemitic groups roaming the area and criticized the local police for failing to provide protection.
Families have contacted relevant authorities, and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has acknowledged the situation and is handling it through its operations center. However, no practical assistance or protection has yet reached the youths on site. The parents are demanding immediate intervention from Israeli officials to ensure their children's safety and secure their prompt evacuation from Bulgaria.
