Israeli Police Arrest Suspect in Huwara Attack Wearing IDF Uniform

About a month after the violent attack in Huwara, Israeli police arrested a suspect seen wearing an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) uniform during the incident. The suspect, a man in his twenties from the Samaria region and a member of a local security team, had been on the run since the attack on July 6. The arrest was made in a joint operation involving the Shin Bet, Border Police, and police detectives from the Judea and Samaria district.

Security camera footage from the attack showed the suspect dressed in IDF gear and armed with an M16 rifle and a pistol, violently assaulting Palestinians, some of whom required hospital treatment. Following the attack, IDF forces were dispatched to the scene, and investigators collected evidence under military protection. The case was transferred to the interagency command in the district for further investigation.

Several suspects have been detained in connection with the case, and indictments have already been filed against one individual. The recently arrested suspect was found after extensive investigative efforts and was apprehended early Wednesday morning. The weapons in his possession were confiscated, and he is currently under interrogation. Police plan to request an extension of his detention to complete the investigation.
