Four Teens Arrested for Assaulting Cinema Usher in Rehovot After Complaints

Four teenagers aged 15 to 16 from Rehovot were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old cinema usher about ten days earlier. The incident occurred at the Hot Cinema in Rehovot, where the usher confronted the teens for disturbing other viewers during the screening of the film "Kupa Rishona." The youths were reportedly smoking an electronic cigarette and behaving disruptively in the theater. When the usher asked them to stop, they responded aggressively and physically attacked him, hitting his face and causing bleeding and bruises. The usher was hospitalized at Kaplan Medical Center and released the next day. The suspects fled before police arrived, but were later apprehended at their homes. Authorities plan to request an extension of their detention in court.

Eyewitnesses, including a couple attending the screening, described the teens' disruptive behavior and criticized the cinema's security arrangements, noting that security personnel shared resources with the mall, causing delayed response times. The couple highlighted the danger of the situation, suggesting it could have escalated further if weapons had been involved. The attack was described as severe, with the usher being beaten by about six youths after asking them to leave.

One of the arrested teens is represented by attorney Yaron Forer, who claims his client was also attacked by the security guard and denies any involvement in the assault or breaking the usher's nose. Forer expressed surprise at the police decision to arrest very young minors with no prior criminal record. The case remains under investigation as the police prepare to bring the suspects before the court.
