Cinema Usher Attacked by Teens in Rehovot, Suspects Still at Large

A teenage cinema usher in Rehovot was brutally attacked last Saturday during a screening of the film "Cashier" after confronting a group of youths smoking inside the theater. The usher, who is preparing for military service, suffered a broken nose, cuts on his lip, and an eye injury, and remains traumatized by the incident. His mother, who requested anonymity for fear of retaliation, described how her son was verbally and physically assaulted after asking the teens to stop smoking and leave the auditorium. The attackers fled the scene before security and police arrived, leaving the usher bleeding and unconscious for a time.

The mother expressed deep concern over the rising violence and the fear families now live with, emphasizing the need for immediate public action against such aggression. She recounted that her son had just started working at the cinema and enjoyed the supportive community there, but was warned about the dangers of confronting unruly patrons. Despite filing a police complaint and cooperating fully with investigators, the suspects have not yet been apprehended.

Eyewitnesses who were present during the attack shared their account on social media, describing how the group of teens repeatedly ignored warnings and then violently beat the usher when he insisted they leave. They criticized the cinema's security arrangements, noting that the shared security with the mall delayed response times. The film screening continued uninterrupted during and after the assault, highlighting concerns about how such incidents are handled in public venues.

The Rehovot mayor reportedly contacted the family to discuss plans to combat violence, but the mother insists that urgent and clear public condemnation of violence is necessary to protect citizens and restore a sense of safety.
