Extremists Celebrate Death of Ultra-Orthodox IDF Recruitment Activist Yaakov Aharon Farber

Yaakov Aharon Farber, the 32-year-old ultra-Orthodox activist behind the "Ma'alot Tzur" initiative to integrate Haredim into the Israel Defense Forces, passed away after battling illness. Following his death, extremist elements within the Haredi community marked the occasion by distributing food and drinks in kollels and yeshivas, accompanied by posters celebrating his death. These posters labeled Farber as a leading figure of destruction and included phrases such as "In the destruction of the wicked there is joy," signed with "Let the humble eat and be satisfied."

The "Line of Defense," associated with the Jerusalem Faction, also issued a statement declaring, "The recruiter who established Ma'alot Tzur has just died; from now on, he will no longer be able to recruit Haredim." Farber’s project aimed to facilitate Haredi enlistment in the IDF by adapting service conditions to their lifestyle, including options for service without uniforms and participation by married men who do not study in yeshivas but maintain rabbinic connections. The food distributed included kugel, fruits, and drinks, symbolizing the extremist celebration of his passing.
