Toronto police are investigating two incidents involving damage to branches of Akiva's Bagel Bar, a Jewish-owned bakery chain, suspected to be hate crimes. The first event occurred early Sunday morning when a window was shot at one location, while another branch had a window smashed shortly after. No injuries were reported in either case, and police believe both incidents happened overnight.

Local authorities are treating the cases as potentially motivated by hate, with increased police presence and resources dedicated to the investigation. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the attacks, stating, "There is no place in our city for hatred of any kind," and pledged to enhance security around Jewish institutions. York Regional Police also expressed support for the affected community despite the incidents occurring outside their jurisdiction.
