Jamaican National Team Point Guard Andrew Thlwell Signs with Hapoel Holon

Hapoel Holon has officially completed its backcourt lineup for the 2026/27 basketball season by signing 24-year-old American-Jamaican point guard Andrew (Drew) Thlwell. Standing 1.91 meters tall, Thlwell joins the Israeli team after playing last season with Pau-Orthez in France, where he averaged 10.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, helping the team earn promotion to France's top league. This was his first season in Europe following five years in U.S. college basketball, including four years at Morehead State Eagles and a final year at Iowa, where he averaged 9.5 points, 3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Thlwell is the leading point guard for the Jamaican national team, posting averages of 15 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds over six games in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, playing 34.5 minutes per game. Hapoel Holon's head coach Predrag Krunić praised Thlwell as a high-intensity player on both ends of the court, athletic, efficient in open play, with good shooting range and strong team orientation. Club professional manager Daniel Ravitz highlighted Thlwell's toughness, two-way play, and energy, noting that his signing completes a versatile backcourt that can interchange players effectively.

The club views Thlwell as a promising young talent who has already demonstrated his winning style in college and contributed significantly to Jamaica's World Cup qualifying campaign. His addition is expected to strengthen Hapoel Holon's guard position and overall team dynamics for the upcoming season.
