Jamaica National Team Point Guard Andrew Thlwell Joins Hapoel Holon for 2026/27 Season

Hapoel Holon has officially signed Andrew (Drew) Thlwell, a 1.91-meter tall American-Jamaican point guard, to complete their backcourt lineup ahead of the 2026/27 basketball season. The 24-year-old arrives in Israel after playing last season with Pau-Orthez in France, where he averaged 10.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, helping the team secure promotion to France's top league. This was Thlwell's first professional season in Europe following five years in U.S. college basketball, including four years at Morehead State Eagles and a final year at Iowa, where he averaged 9.5 points, 3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Thlwell is the leading point guard for the Jamaican national team, posting averages of 15 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds over six games during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, playing 34.5 minutes per game. Hapoel Holon's head coach, Predrag Krunić, praised Thlwell's athleticism, defensive and offensive intensity, shooting range, team orientation, and motivation to prove himself in the Israeli league. Club professional manager Daniel Ravitz highlighted Thlwell's toughness, two-way play, and energy, noting that his signing completes a versatile backcourt unit capable of playing interchangeably.

Thlwell's addition follows Hapoel Holon's ongoing preparations for the upcoming season, aiming to strengthen their roster with promising talent experienced both internationally and in competitive leagues.
