Shomron Council Head Visits Seriously Wounded Itamar Cohen, Vows to Strengthen Settlement

Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, visited Itamar Cohen in the hospital after Cohen was seriously injured in a stabbing attack near Elon Moreh in the Shomron region. Cohen, a co-founder of agricultural farms in the West Bank, had just come out of surgery and was conscious and able to speak. During the visit, Dagan expressed solidarity with Cohen and his family, praising Cohen's resilience and promising to expand the settlement and agricultural projects in the area. "We will build the Shomron even stronger, establish the Shalem settlement near the attack site, and enhance security," Dagan said, emphasizing that terrorism will not prevail and that the response will be more settlement, construction, and security.

Following the attack, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called Dagan to express his deep shock over the incident, wished Cohen a full recovery, and sent strength to Cohen's wife, Shikma, and family. Herzog also expressed hope that security forces would swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and restore safety to the region. Dagan reassured the president that the Shomron settlements remain strong and unbroken despite the violence.

The stabbing attack near Elon Moreh is part of a series of recent violent incidents in the Shomron area, underscoring ongoing tensions and security challenges in the West Bank.
