Prominent Gur Hasid Rabbi Israel Yitzchak Goldenberg Passes Away on Tisha B'Av

Rabbi Israel Yitzchak Goldenberg, a respected figure among the Gur Hasidim and a devoted congregant of the Modzitz synagogue in Bnei Brak, passed away during the Tisha B'Av fast day, a day commemorating the destruction of the Holy Temple. Born to Rabbi Yaakov Goldenberg, he married the daughter of Rabbi Shamai Avraham Hochberg. Throughout his life, he was deeply committed to Torah study and mitzvot, known for his generous financial support of religious observance and his meticulous attention to both minor and major commandments.

In his youth, Rabbi Goldenberg enjoyed a close relationship with the late Rebbe of Gur, the "Beit Yisrael," and remained devoted to the righteous leaders of his generation. He is survived by a legacy of righteous descendants who continue to engage in Torah and mitzvot. His funeral took place on Thursday, Tisha B'Av, beginning at 12:00 PM from his home on Ben Neriya Street 1 in Bnei Brak, followed by a 6:00 PM procession from the Shamgar funeral home in Jerusalem to Har HaMenuchot cemetery, where he was laid to rest.

The family is sitting shiva at their home in the Assum complex on Ben Neriya Street 1 in Bnei Brak. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
