Monza Initiates Talks to Sign Maccabi Tel Aviv Defender Tyrese Asante

Italian club Monza has opened negotiations to acquire Tyrese Asante, a central defender for Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to reports from the Netherlands and Italy. The 24-year-old player has reportedly given his preliminary approval for the move and is awaiting progress in talks between the two clubs. Monza is currently considered the leading candidate to sign Asante, although another Italian club and a Turkish team are also monitoring the situation. Maccabi Tel Aviv is expected to demand a transfer fee between 3 and 4 million euros for the defender.

Asante joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2024 from Dutch club ADO Den Haag for approximately 600,000 euros. Since his arrival, he quickly became a key player in the team's defense and contributed to winning both the Israeli Premier League title and the State Cup. His contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv runs through the upcoming season, with an option for an additional year. Previously, Asante made six appearances for the Netherlands U21 national team and developed through the youth systems of Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam before playing for Quick and ADO Den Haag, where he made 98 appearances.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing for the 2026/27 season and its European campaign, which begins this Thursday against Sheriff Tiraspol. Should Asante transfer, it would represent a significant professional loss for the club but also a lucrative financial gain.
