Italian Club Monza Initiates Talks to Sign Maccabi Tel Aviv Defender Tyrese Asante

Maccabi Tel Aviv may soon lose one of its key defenders, Tyrese Asante, as Italian Serie A club Monza has reportedly begun initial negotiations for his transfer. According to reports from the Netherlands and Italy, the 24-year-old center-back has given his approval for the move and is now awaiting agreement between the clubs. Monza is considered the frontrunner among interested teams, with another Italian club and a Turkish team also expressing interest. Asante is keen to advance to a top-tier league but is still evaluating his options.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is expected to set a transfer fee between 3 and 4 million euros. If the deal goes through, the club will make a significant profit, having acquired Asante from ADO Den Haag in summer 2024 for approximately 600,000 euros. Since joining Maccabi, Asante quickly established himself in the central defense, contributing to the team's championship and cup victories. He is under contract for the upcoming season, with an option for an additional year.

Asante has represented the Netherlands at the under-21 level six times and developed through the youth systems of Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam before playing 98 matches for ADO Den Haag. Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing for the 2026/27 season and their first European campaign match on Thursday against Sheriff Tiraspol.
