Maccabi Tel Aviv's Tyrese Asante Open to Summer Transfer Amid Italian Interest

Tyrese Asante, Maccabi Tel Aviv's defender, acknowledged in a Dutch media interview on Friday that a transfer this summer is a definite possibility. He stated, "I know what I have here and I wouldn't trade it for something not better. I would lie if I said there is no interest. But everything has to fit. You only have one career, so the choices you make are very important." Asante emphasized he will not rush any decision and is content if he remains at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Reports indicate that Italian clubs Lecce and Monza have shown interest in the player. Asante expressed his ambition to play for a top club in a major league within five years, calling it a realistic goal if he continues to work hard. Reflecting on his move from the Netherlands to Israel, he revealed that Maccabi had pursued him since winter, but he delayed the transfer by six months. The club's sporting director at the time, Dominic Price, persistently contacted his agent and even traveled to the Netherlands to watch him play.

Despite initial hesitation, Asante was convinced by Maccabi's strong interest and the club's stature. He described his transition to Israel as smoother than expected, praising the warm reception and professional environment. Regarding the Israeli Premier League, he highlighted the passionate fanbase, with stadiums filled with 30,000 supporters who vocally back the team throughout matches. He noted the intensity of the fans, who even confront the team after losses, reflecting the club's status as Israel's biggest football team.
