Maccabi Tel Aviv's Tyrese Asante Open to Summer Transfer but Ready to Stay

Tyrese Asante, a key defender for Maccabi Tel Aviv, discussed his future in an interview from the Netherlands amid transfer interest from Dutch club Lecce. After two seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Asante acknowledged that a summer move is a possibility but emphasized he will only transfer if it represents a clear step up. "I know what I have at Maccabi Tel Aviv and I won’t trade it for something worse," he said. He admitted there is interest from other clubs but stressed the importance of making careful decisions, noting, "You only have one career, so the choices you make are very important. If I don’t move, I will live with that peacefully. I’m comfortable here."

Looking ahead, Asante expressed his ambition to play for a top club in a major league within five years, calling it a realistic goal contingent on hard work. He reflected on the passionate atmosphere at Maccabi Tel Aviv, contrasting it with the Dutch league. "The stadium here is full every week with 30,000 fans shouting for 90 minutes. It’s different from the Netherlands, where the league is a bit cleaner. Here, the fans are really intense. We lost once and the training ground was full of angry supporters demanding answers," he said. Asante highlighted the pressure of playing for Israel’s biggest club but also the unique energy it brings.
