Brooklyn Man Fights Armed Intruder Who Attacked Wife at Home in Crown Heights

A violent home invasion occurred in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn when a woman was attacked by an armed robber posing as an electric and gas company worker. The incident took place on Monday afternoon around 3 p.m., shortly after the woman's husband had left the house. The assailant, described as tall, rang the doorbell and forced his way inside once the woman opened the door, brandishing a gun and choking her.

The woman screamed for help, triggering a smart doorbell camera alert that notified her husband, who was about six blocks away. Watching the live feed and hearing the struggle, he rushed back home and engaged in a physical fight with the attacker. During the confrontation, the husband managed to wrestle the gun away and struck the intruder with it, causing significant bleeding. The woman escaped with her baby while the husband ensured their safety before leaving the scene.

The suspect fled with the gun, the woman's phone, and wallet. Neighborhood patrol volunteers from the Shomrim organization tracked the suspect to a nearby park in Canarsie, where NYPD officers arrested him. Police found the weapon and a rope likely intended for restraining the family. The suspect is a known career criminal with at least ten prior serious convictions.

The woman was hospitalized in stable condition with visible signs of strangulation. Police sealed off the home for forensic investigation and witness interviews. The NYPD continues to investigate this serious and dangerous home invasion case.
