National Security Minister Ben Gvir Visits Shomron Settlement After Major Fire, Vows Full Reconstruction

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir visited the Shomron settlement of Havat Gilad on Tuesday evening to assess the damage caused by a severe fire that broke out over the weekend. During the visit, Ben Gvir received updates from the regional police and fire commanders, who detailed the establishment of a dedicated emergency command center to handle residents' complaints and requests related to the fire damage.

Fire and rescue commanders briefed Ben Gvir on the extensive operational efforts that lasted many hours until the fire was fully contained. The minister praised the quick response, noting that six firefighting aircraft were deployed, although their use was ultimately not required. He commended the bravery and dedication of the police, firefighters, and local residents, calling the outcome a "great miracle" resulting from their self-sacrifice.

Ben Gvir promised to lead efforts to rebuild the damaged homes and restore the community, stating, "We will revive Havat Gilad, the houses will be rehabilitated, and the area will flourish again." He personally thanked the Judea and Samaria Fire and Rescue District Commander for his exemplary dedication.

Shomron Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan expressed gratitude for Ben Gvir's leadership and real-time involvement. He highlighted the coordinated response involving the Central Command Chief, police, and fire services. Dagan shared that despite the destruction, residents vowed to rebuild even larger homes, emphasizing the resilience of the community. He also thanked Ben Gvir for recognizing the fire as a terrorist act and pledged to work together on the settlement's full recovery.
