Italian Club Lecce Threatens Legal Action Over Zambian Ex-Netanya Striker's No-Show

Lecce, the Italian football club, is facing a growing dispute with Zambian striker Lamka Banda, a former player for Israeli clubs Maccabi Netanya and Maccabi Petah Tikva. Banda, 25, was expected to join Lecce's training camp in Austria on Tuesday but has yet to arrive, causing frustration within the club. Lecce stated that Banda cited logistical and bureaucratic issues preventing him from landing in Italy, but the club remains unconvinced by these explanations.

In an official statement, Lecce warned it reserves the right to take any necessary measures against Banda, including legal action, for breach of contract due to his failure to report for training. Banda joined Lecce in 2022 from Maccabi Petah Tikva for a transfer fee of 2 million euros. During his time in Italy's top league, he scored five goals and provided four assists. Prior to that, he spent one season each at Maccabi Netanya and Maccabi Petah Tikva in Israel.

The situation remains unresolved as Lecce awaits Banda's arrival, with potential legal proceedings looming if the player does not comply with his contractual obligations.
