Barry Levitt Dies in Jerusalem Balcony Collapse at Bakery Residence
Barry Levitt, 80, died following the collapse of a balcony at a private home above a bakery on KKL Street in Jerusalem. Levitt was trapped unconscious under the rubble for several minutes before being rescued, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. He is survived by his wife and three children. An 80-year-old woman was also rescued with minor injuries, along with two teenagers, approximately 16 years old, who sustained light wounds. Additionally, medical teams treated three individuals for anxiety at the scene.
Earlier on the same day, police and municipal authorities inspected the building after neighbors reported the balcony was sinking. A professional was called to assess the situation and recommended installing scaffolding and beginning stabilization work. However, the balcony collapsed before any repairs could start.
