Mitsubishi Outlander Micro-Hybrid Turbo Model Launches in Israel with Upgraded Features and Lower Prices

Mitsubishi has introduced an updated version of its Outlander micro-hybrid SUV in Israel, featuring a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, enhanced equipment, and reduced pricing. The Outlander remains Mitsubishi's sole model offered locally after European emissions regulations halted sales of other models and the brand's European lineup shifted to badge-engineered Renault vehicles. Since its launch in Israel, the Outlander has sold approximately 62,000 units, with around 24,000 from the current generation introduced in early 2021. Despite strong competition from lower-priced Chinese models and plug-in hybrids like the MG S9, Mitsubishi has chosen to strengthen the Outlander’s appeal by adding a turbocharged engine combined with mild hybrid technology, improving fuel efficiency and performance.

The new powertrain delivers 174 horsepower and 28.6 kgm of torque at 3,000 rpm, paired with a continuously variable transmission and available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 9.7 seconds for the front-wheel-drive version and 10 seconds for the 4x4. Fuel consumption improves slightly to 11.9 km/l combined (11.5 km/l for 4x4). Compared to the previous 2.5-liter gasoline engine, the new turbocharged unit produces slightly less power but achieves it at lower engine speeds, with a modest torque increase and better fuel economy.

Alongside the mechanical upgrade, Mitsubishi has enhanced the Outlander’s comfort and convenience features and lowered prices by between 1,000 and 9,000 shekels depending on the trim level. The available trims include Intense, Executive, Instyle, Luxury, and Luxury TTH, catering to a range of customer preferences. This update aims to maintain the Outlander’s competitiveness in Israel’s SUV market amid evolving consumer demands and increasing competition from electrified and affordable alternatives.
