Tel Aviv Taxi Driver Arrested for Defrauding Elderly Passenger and Abandoning Him

Police in Tel Aviv arrested a 56-year-old taxi driver from Rehovot on suspicion of defrauding a 75-year-old elderly passenger. The incident occurred when the driver picked up the senior from a medical facility in central Tel Aviv. Instead of taking him to his intended destination in another city, the driver allegedly took the passenger's credit card, made purchases totaling thousands of shekels, and abandoned the man alone in northern Tel Aviv.

Following the complaint filed at the Lev Tel Aviv police station, detectives launched a covert investigation to locate the suspect and gather evidence. They compiled sufficient proof to request an arrest warrant for serious charges of theft and fraud. The suspect was located and arrested during a covert police operation in the evening.

The taxi driver was brought in for questioning and is expected to appear before a judge to consider extending his detention. The police continue to investigate the case, which has drawn public attention due to the victim's vulnerable status and the driver's alleged betrayal of trust.
