Bus Driver Arrested for Drunk Driving After Passenger Injured in Tel Aviv
A bus driver in his 50s from Holon was arrested on Wednesday evening in Tel Aviv on suspicion of drunk driving after a 76-year-old female passenger was injured during the ride. The incident occurred on Herzog Street when the elderly passenger fell inside the bus and sustained minor injuries. She was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Police officers who arrived at the scene detected the smell of alcohol on the driver and conducted a breathalyzer test, which showed his blood alcohol level was 664 micrograms per liter, nearly three times the legal limit. The driver was taken for further testing and subsequently arrested. His driving license was revoked, and he was released under restrictive conditions pending prosecution.
The injured passenger's daughter, Liat, told Channel 13 News that her mother was thrown violently inside the bus due to the driver's reckless speeding and intoxication. She expressed shock that a driver would operate a bus while drunk, endangering passengers. The driver is expected to face charges in court following the investigation.
