Two Teenagers Arrested for Stabbing Tel Aviv-Area Taxi Driver Over Fare Dispute
Israeli police arrested two 17-year-old teenagers from the Sharon region over the weekend on suspicion of stabbing a 70-year-old taxi driver in Bat Yam. The driver was lightly injured in the leg and received medical treatment. According to the investigation, the driver picked up a group of teenagers who had ordered a ride from central Herzliya. At the end of the trip, the teenagers allegedly refused to pay the full fare, leading to a dispute. During the confrontation, one of the teens reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the driver in the leg before the suspects fled the scene.
Police from the Glilot station's youth division quickly located and arrested the two suspects. During the arrest, various drugs and a knife believed to be used in the stabbing were seized from one of the teenagers. The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended the detention of one suspect until the following day, while the other was released to house arrest until July 2. The investigation is ongoing.
