Two Teens Arrested for Stabbing 70-Year-Old Taxi Driver Over 10 Shekels in Herzliya
Two 17-year-old boys from the Sharon region were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of stabbing a 70-year-old taxi driver in Herzliya following a dispute over a 10-shekel fare difference. The driver was lightly injured in the leg and received medical treatment. The incident occurred after the teens refused to pay the full fare at the end of the ride, prompting a confrontation.
Police from the Glilot station launched an investigation immediately after the attack was reported. During the arrest, officers found a knife and various drugs on one of the suspects. The taxi driver recounted that the ride was normal until payment was requested, at which point the teens refused to pay the missing 10 shekels. One of the youths then became agitated and suddenly stabbed the driver in the leg.
The court extended the detention of one minor until Monday, while the other was released to house arrest until Thursday. The police investigation is ongoing. The driver expressed disbelief that such a violent incident could occur over such a small amount of money.
