80-Year-Old Man Dies After Balcony Collapse Onto Jerusalem Restaurant

A tragic accident occurred in Jerusalem's Rehavia neighborhood when a second-floor balcony of a three-story residential building on Keren Kayemet LeIsrael Street collapsed onto a restaurant located on the ground floor. The collapse caused significant damage to both the building and the business below. Emergency services including firefighters, Magen David Adom, Israel Police, United Hatzalah, and ZAKA were dispatched to the scene.

At the onset of the incident, two individuals were rescued from the rubble by bystanders before emergency responders arrived. Firefighters then conducted complex rescue operations using specialized equipment to search for additional victims. During these efforts, an approximately 80-year-old man was found trapped under the debris. Medical teams extracted him but declared him dead at the scene. Three other people sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment onsite.
