Finance Minister Smotrich Reflects on Rabbi Lando's Remarks, Seeks Rabbi Ariel's Counsel

During a visit to the Tefahot Hesder Yeshiva in the Galilee, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich addressed comments made by Lithuanian community leader Rabbi Dov Lando. He revealed that he consulted Rabbi Yaakov Ariel for guidance, who advised emphasizing the verse recited on Tisha B'Av: 'Who is the man who desires life, loves days to see good? Guard your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.'

Smotrich then focused on the positive aspects of Religious Zionism and its yeshivot, expressing gratitude for being part of a Torah tradition that views the State of Israel as a redemption. He highlighted the integration of Torah study with military service and public involvement, describing it as a sacred mitzvah and a commitment to the land and faith.
