Yonatan Alon Says His Current Jerusalem Stint Is Over After Playoff Exit

Hapoel Jerusalem’s season ended Thursday night with a 3-0 series loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv, closing out a disappointing campaign that also included a EuroCup failure and defeat in the State Cup final. Coach Yonatan Alon said he felt responsible for the situation and praised the opponent, calling Hapoel Tel Aviv a very strong team. He also said club leaders had given him backing regardless of whether he stayed or left.

Alon added, "This is my last game as Hapoel Jerusalem coach in this stint," and said he felt a sense of missed opportunity despite two years that included both major achievements and setbacks. He said he loves the club and will now decide what is best for him professionally, noting his background as a basketball coach, assistant and sporting director.

Jared Harper described the season as difficult for everyone and said the team went through ups and downs and some issues beyond basketball. He said they would learn from it, come back stronger next season, and noted, "If there is interest from the national team, I will speak with them."
