Yonatan Alon Leaves Hapoel Jerusalem After Three Seasons
Hapoel Jerusalem announced on Friday that head coach Yonatan Alon has left the club after three years in charge. The decision came a day after Alon informed people personally, following the team’s 89-81 loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv and elimination in the semifinal series.
Alon, 44, also previously served Hapoel Jerusalem as an assistant coach and sporting director. He had led the team over the past three seasons, and the club said veteran coach Sasha Obradovic is expected to take his place soon.
Owner Matan Adleson issued a long tribute to Alon, praising his “long and meaningful” spell at the club and saying he left a deep mark on its professional side. Adleson said Alon earned “impressive achievements,” showed true leadership in difficult moments, believed in the club’s path, and demonstrated unwavering commitment.
“He was a real partner on the journey and a friend,” Adleson said, adding thanks for his dedication, endless effort and professionalism. He concluded, “Yonatan is Hapoel, always was and always will be. Good luck going forward.”
