Yotam Alon says Jerusalem’s coaching change was a mistake

Hapoel Jerusalem announced on Monday that Sasha Obradovic will take over as head coach, replacing Yotam Alon. The appointment was presented as a major move for the club, and Alon responded publicly in an interview with the Hebrew sports show "Fives," which is scheduled to air on Tuesday.

In the interview, Alon said he respects Hapoel Jerusalem, but argued that bringing in Obradovic was, professionally, "a mistake." The segment also frames the move around the question of whether another coach would have done better in Alon’s place, and what the club would have done had Alon delivered a championship.

The interview teaser also raises a hypothetical exchange with owner Adelson, asking whether, after being told "I brought Sasha Obradovic," Alon could reply that he had brought a title instead. The clip does not provide a full response from Alon beyond his criticism of the decision.

"Fives" will air the full interview on Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. on 5SPORT, alongside a special program from the arena covering Game 1 of the finals.
