That’s it. Hapoel Jerusalem’s season came to an end tonight (Thursday) after a 3-0 series loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv. It was a season that will not be remembered fondly in Jerusalem, as the EuroCup failure and missing out on the playoff final, along with the loss in the cup final, were major disappointments.
Yonatan Alon summed up: “We’re starting to digest it. I feel responsible for the situation. We lost to an excellent team with excellent players, and they deserve credit. We’ll move on. The talk about next season didn’t really get to me. I felt support from the club leadership, and I would have acted the same way even if I had known I was not staying, and even if I had known I was staying.”
“I don’t know what the future holds. There is a sense of missed opportunity. We did great things over the last two years, alongside some less good things. We brought good players here and I hope they stay. I feel I’m getting credit, both from the offers I have and from people in Israel and abroad who are praising me.”
On next season: “I am a basketball person, a coach, an assistant, a professional manager, I have done all of those successfully, and I’ll need to choose what is best for me.” Israeli Basketball Premier League. Did you find a language error?
