IDF Chief Stresses High Alert in West Bank Amid Iran Developments and Aqaba Rocket Fire

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir held a situation assessment with the Judea and Samaria Division, emphasizing the military's heightened operational readiness in response to recent developments in Iran and rocket fire toward the Aqaba region. Zamir confirmed that Israel's air defense systems have been placed on high alert following rocket launches earlier on Sunday and ongoing close monitoring of Iran's activities.

During the briefing, Zamir reviewed the current status of forces on the ground, highlighted recent successful counterterrorism operations, and assessed unit preparedness for upcoming missions. He engaged in an open dialogue with division commanders about logistical and operational challenges both locally and across multiple theaters, expressing deep appreciation for their continuous efforts to maintain national security.

Zamir stated, "Alongside the ongoing fight against terrorism in Judea and Samaria, we are closely following developments in Iran and remain on high alert. We tracked the rocket fire toward Aqaba today, and our air defense array is ready to protect Israeli civilians. We are prepared to immediately resume combat operations and will respond forcefully to any attacks against us."

He further praised the troops for their daily efforts, noting that terrorist incidents in Judea and Samaria are at some of their lowest levels in recent years. Zamir also addressed the threat of nationalist crime impacting security and settlements, stressing continued cooperation with the Shin Bet and police to eradicate this phenomenon. While maintaining high readiness for multi-theater combat, he reaffirmed that the Judea and Samaria front remains a constant focus amid significant upcoming challenges requiring rapid response and stability maintenance.
