IDF Chief Orders Increased Readiness and Reinforcements in West Bank Ahead of Holidays

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir has ordered heightened alertness across all fronts and the immediate deployment of an additional regular division in the West Bank in preparation for the upcoming holiday period. During a recent security assessment, Zamir reviewed various threats and emphasized the need for increased operational readiness amid rising tensions in the region. He stated, "We face many challenges. We are advancing combat procedures across all arenas from Iran and Lebanon to Gaza and remain on high alert against multi-front volatility."

In response to the escalating security situation in the West Bank and the proximity of the holidays, Zamir directed immediate operational measures, including reinforcing forces with an additional division and preparing units and battalions for rapid deployment. He underscored a clear operational policy for all units, affirming that the IDF will maintain full multi-front readiness during the holiday period without any reduction in operational capacity.

Alongside operational preparations, Zamir addressed the ongoing economic crisis and defense budget discussions, warning of the detrimental effects of resource shortages on military readiness. He remarked, "Unfortunately, we are currently engaged in a budget battle. At a time when the IDF and its personnel are tense across all fronts, we must contend with an empty treasury. Such a situation harms the IDF's preparedness."

Concluding his remarks, Zamir clarified the army command's priorities, stating, "Our focus is solely on defending the security of the State of Israel. We will not be distracted by issues that could divert our focus and readiness."
