IDF Chief Emphasizes Immediate Readiness for Combat Amid Iran Tensions and West Bank Security

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir addressed recent developments including the rocket fire toward the Aqaba area and the situation in Iran, affirming that the Israel Defense Forces remain prepared for immediate combat and will respond forcefully to any threats against Israel. Zamir stated that alongside ongoing counterterrorism operations in the West Bank, the military is closely monitoring Iran and maintaining high alert levels. The air defense system is on standby to protect Israeli civilians following the rocket attack near Aqaba.

Zamir made these remarks during a situational assessment at the Judea and Samaria Division headquarters, attended by Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot, Technology and Logistics Branch Head Major General Rami Abudraham, Judea and Samaria Division Commander Brigadier General Kobi Heller, and regional brigade commanders. The briefing included updates on operational conditions, counterterrorism efforts, troop activities, and preparedness for ongoing missions.

The Chief of Staff discussed the challenges in the West Bank with commanders, highlighting the significant achievements of forces operating there and noting that terrorism incidents in the area are at some of their lowest levels in recent years. He also addressed nationalist crime, emphasizing its detrimental impact on both security and settlement communities, and confirmed continued cooperation with the Shin Bet and police to eradicate this phenomenon.

Concluding, Zamir underscored that despite readiness for multi-front combat, the West Bank remains a primary focus. He instructed commanders to maintain high readiness for rapid responses to sudden incidents and to continue efforts to preserve security and stability in the region.
