IDF Chief Zamir Raises Alert Level in West Bank Following Channel 14 Investigation

Following the broadcast of a Channel 14 investigative report titled "7.10 West Bank Version," which highlighted fears of a large-scale surprise attack from the West Bank, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir ordered an increase in military readiness in the region. The directive includes placing an additional regular division headquarters on alert and preparing units and battalions for immediate deployment to reinforce the area.

During a multi-front situation assessment held on Thursday morning, Zamir specifically addressed the heightened tensions in the West Bank and the approaching holiday season. He emphasized the need for enhanced force presence and readiness, stating, "In light of the tensions in the West Bank and the upcoming holiday period, I am instructing the elevation of alert for an additional regular division headquarters to strengthen the force structure in the sector." He also called for immediate activation of additional units to bolster the area.

Zamir clarified that the preparations extend beyond the West Bank, as the IDF is ready for potential simultaneous developments across multiple fronts, including Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza. He stressed the army's high alert status against multi-front volatility and underscored that "there is no quiet period and no reduction in operational force structure" during the holidays.

This heightened alert follows the investigative report by Channel 14 correspondent Eliya Aviv, which examined threats from the West Bank and the security establishment's preparedness for extreme scenarios, drawing lessons from the deadly Hamas surprise attack on October 7.
