Israeli U18 Women's Relay Sets New National Record in 1000m at European Championships
The Israeli U18 women's 1000-meter relay team set a new national record during the European Championships heats held on Sunday in Rieti, Italy. The quartet, consisting of Nivi Zeligman (Lider Netanya), Roni Rabinovitch (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Coral Cymbalist (Maccabi Rishon LeZion), and Hila Versano (Maccabi Tel Aviv), finished with a time of 2:15.00 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 2:19.7 minutes set in 1991. The team placed 20th out of 24 national teams in the event.
Earlier the same day, Israeli athletes Ido Noam and Aviv Ochman competed in the 2000-meter steeplechase final. Noam, representing Hapoel Emek Hefer and the Academy of Excellence, finished sixth with a time of 5:53.96 minutes. Ochman, from Lider Jerusalem, placed 14th with a time of 6:19.99 minutes.
