Israeli U18 1,000m Relay Team Sets New National Record at European Championships
The Israeli U18 girls' 1,000-meter relay team set a new national record during the preliminary rounds of the European Championships held in Rieti, Italy, on Sunday. The quartet, consisting of Nivi Zeligman (Lider Netanya), Roni Rabinovitch (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Coral Cymbalist (Maccabi Rishon LeZion), and Hila Versano (Maccabi Tel Aviv), completed the race in 2:15.00 minutes. This performance surpassed the previous Israeli record of 2:19.7 minutes, which had stood since 1991. The team finished 20th out of 24 national teams.
Earlier the same day, Israeli athletes Ido Noam and Aviv Ochman competed in the 2,000-meter steeplechase final. Ido Noam, representing Hapoel Emek Hefer and the Academy of Excellence, finished sixth with a time of 5:53.96 minutes. Aviv Ochman from Lider Jerusalem placed 14th, completing the race in 6:19.99 minutes.
