Mother Shares Harrowing Video After Baby Locked Inside Car in Heat

Sharon, a mother of a two-month-old baby girl named Alma, shared a security camera video capturing the terrifying moments after her infant was accidentally locked inside a car on a hot day. The incident occurred when Sharon placed Alma, along with her bag and phone, inside the vehicle but left the car key inside as well. Due to a malfunction in the car's automatic locking system, the doors locked after she closed the door on the baby's side, trapping Alma inside.

Sharon attempted to call for help using her smartwatch but was unsuccessful, prompting her to seek assistance from neighbors and emergency services. About ten minutes later, rescue teams from Yedidim, United Hatzalah, Magen David Adom, and the police arrived and worked to open the car. Approximately 15 minutes after being locked inside, Alma was rescued. Sharon described the baby as red-faced, wet, and exhausted when the car was finally opened.

Medical teams provided initial treatment, cooled Alma down, and ensured she was able to nurse and hydrate properly. Sharon called the experience the most difficult she has faced as a mother and shared the video not to frighten others but to raise awareness about safety precautions. She urged parents to always keep the car key in hand, leave the driver's door open until entering the vehicle, and if possible, keep the car running with air conditioning on while placing children inside. Sharon expressed relief that Alma is now safe and thanked everyone involved in the rescue.
