U.S. President Donald Trump announced this evening, Thursday, that the strikes against Iran that were scheduled to take place overnight have been canceled. He also said that talks on an agreement are in their final stages and that "the signing date will be announced soon."
Trump's full statement: Based on the fact that the discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran were brought to the highest leadership level in Iran and approved, I, as President of the United States of America, am canceling the strikes and bombings planned against Iran for this evening. The discussions and final points have been approved, both in principle and in great detail, by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others. The naval blockade will remain fully in effect until the deal is completed. The time and place of signing will be announced soon.
