NBC: Trump Announced Iran Deal Hours Before Planned U.S. Strikes
The U.S. military was about three hours from carrying out planned strikes in Iran when President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that a deal had been reached, two American officials told NBC. According to the report, the military had already been prepared after receiving Trump’s order to proceed, and the U.S. Navy had adjusted its air operations for the day and loaded munitions for the attack.
The officials said Kharg Island was not among the targets, despite Trump’s explicit threat to strike there. The planned operation was ultimately canceled and, they said, would have been very similar to the previous day’s attacks, which hit military surveillance capabilities, communications systems, and air-defense sites across Iran.
