Trump changes course: I canceled the planned strike on Iran
The president of the United States is changing course, and just before the start of the World Cup, which his country is also hosting, he announced the cancellation of the planned strikes on Iran. After a series of threats from Tehran, President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had decided to "cancel the attacks and bombings planned against Iran for this evening," noting that the terms of the agreement had been "approved by all parties." In his statement, Trump wrote that "the discussions with Iran were brought to the highest level of the Iranian leadership and were approved," and therefore he decided to cancel the bombings. According to him, "the discussions and the final terms have been approved, in principle and in full detail, by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others." He clarified that "the naval blockade will remain in full effect until this agreement is completed. The time and place of the signing will be announced soon." However, even after his announcement, it is still not clear whether this is indeed a breakthrough toward an agreement with Iran, and the many threats from Tehran במהלך the evening suggest that this may not actually be the case.
