Israeli Forces Arrest Senior Figures in Popular Front's Financial Network
The Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet, and police have arrested several activists involved in managing an institution that serves as a key part of the financial apparatus of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The institution, named the Union of Health Committees, was designated a terrorist organization in Israel in 2021 and banned in the West Bank after being exposed as a significant financial arm of the PFLP. The PFLP operatives linked to this network carried out a 2019 suicide bombing at Ein Bubin, which resulted in the death of teenager Rina Shnerb.
In recent weeks, several senior figures within the Union of Health Committees, some of whom are PFLP members, were detained amid suspicions that the organization had resumed its activities. Indictments have already been filed against some of those involved, with additional charges expected in the coming weeks.
