Young Woman Killed After Being Hit by Car on Highway 65 Near Iron Interchange
A tragic accident occurred on Highway 65 near the Iron Interchange on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a woman in her twenties from Ar'ara. The woman had stopped on the roadside suspecting a traffic violation and was outside her vehicle during a police enforcement operation when another car veered off its lane and struck her with great force. The driver of the vehicle that hit her sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah found the woman unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe multi-system trauma. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Eyewitnesses reported that the colliding vehicle crashed into the parked car on the shoulder, leading to the fatal injuries of the woman standing outside her vehicle.
Traffic investigators from the Manasseh district in the Haifa region have opened an inquiry into the circumstances of the crash, including examining whether the driver who caused the collision was speeding. Following the accident, heavy traffic congestion developed on Highway 65 westbound before the Iron Interchange and on the ramp to Highway 6 northbound. Police have urged drivers to avoid the area and use navigation apps to find alternate routes.
United Hatzalah spokesperson Nachman Tubul advised drivers to avoid stopping on the roadside whenever possible and to exercise extreme caution if stopping is unavoidable. The investigation into the cause of the vehicle's lane deviation remains ongoing.
